NEW PASSPORT RULES
UPDATE: PASSPORT DELAYS NEED NOT DELAY YOUR TRIP
Legacy Tours wants to make sure that you are aware of the latest passport requirements. Whether you have a current vacation booked or still thinking about where you'd like to go next please keep the following important information in mind.
The US Department of State recently announced an extension of the proposed implementation timeline for the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. When enacted, travelers to and from a foreign country (including the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, and any other country outside the USA) must have a valid passport. Passport agencies are expecting to be flooded with applications. It is anticipated that the time to process new applications could take up to several months. If you are planning to travel outside of the United States, apply early for your passport.
The revised timeline is as follows:
January 23, 2007- Passports required for all air travel to or from the US.
June 1, 2009-Passports required for all travel to or from the US (air, sea, or land)
Although the requirement to possess a valid passport for sea and land crossings has been extended to June 1, 2009, the government can accelerate this date based on meeting certain criteria. For information about obtaining or renewing a passport, visit the State Department's website at: http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html or call the National Passport Information Center toll free at 877-487-2778.
