The Great American Steamboat Co. to revive Pacific Northwest cruises!

In the Pacific Northwest region, The Great American Steamboat Co. will deploy a 223 passenger river cruise line called 'Empress of the North'. The vessel will begin cruising out of Portland, Ore. in April 2014 along the Columbia & Snake Rivers.

Hurtigruten line offers special voyages to mark 120th anniversary

The Norway based cruise line is having it's 120th anniversary. Offerings on the anniversary sailings will include special musical performances and a trip into a new fjord.


Newark flights will supplement the JFK service and will operate four times per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In addition to Newark, Icelandair offers service from Boston, New York JFK, Seattle, Denver and Toronto. Connections through Icelandair's hub are available to more than 20 destinations in Scandinavia, the U.K. and Continental Europe.  

Southwest Airlines trims flights at Philadelphia Airport

Southwest Airlines has cut it's flights at the Philly airport to 20 weekday departures. "We want to put out our planes where they are going to be most profitable, and where our customers will choose to fly with us" said Southwest spokeswoman Katie Coldwell. Additionally, they will upgrade their in-flight entertainment by offering movies on demand. The carrier has also installed WiFi from Row 44 on all it's Boeing 737-700's and 737-800's.  

Royal Caribbean to leave out of Bayonne NJ on 'Quantum of the Seas'!

Royal Caribbean International has announced that 'Quantum of the Seas', it's 4,180 passenger vessel will operate sailings across the Caribbean and the Bahamas from it's home port in Bayonne, NJ after it's inaugural sailing Nov. 23, 2014.Royal Caribbean will also be adding $12 per person, per day to cover gratuities to expedite service to client.          

Airline tickets cost HALF AS MUCH in 2011 as in 1978!

The cost of an airline ticket in 2011 was 50% less than in 1978, when adjusted for inflation. "When you have intense competition for a product that is price sensitive, you have falling prices, said John Heimlich, vice President and chief economist at Airlines for America.

American Airlines changes boarding policy

The carrier will allow travelers with only personal items that can fit under the seat to board before passengers with roller bags. American tested the boarding policy at seven airports before making the change recently. 

US Airways revives daily Philly to Ireland route 

The 4 year inactive flight from Philly to Shannon Airport in Ireland will run again thru September 6, on a Boeing 757-200 direct!
